The Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time Spanish Instructor/Lecturer position for academic year 2024-2025. Renewal is contingent on strong performance reviews and availability of funding.
The successful candidate will teach courses at the 100- and 200-level, and other undergraduate Spanish courses based on departmental need. The teaching load is 3 courses per semester. Responsibilities include teaching classes, grading student assignments, developing instructional materials, and holding office hours.
Target starting date: August 16, 2024.
Requisitos
For a position at the rank of Instructor, a Master's degree in Spanish is required with the completion date not later than July 1, 2024. For a position at the rank of Lecturer, a Ph.D. in Spanish is required with the completion date not later than July 1, 2024. Candidates must have professional-level proficiency in Spanish and English as well as significant prior classroom teaching experience teaching Spanish at the college level.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the following:
- Evidence of excellence in teaching.
- Demonstrated evidence of continuing professional development.
- Experience with proficiency-based instruction or similar communicative approaches.
- Familiarity with blended/hybrid/flipped technology-enhanced curricula.
