Descripción

Dulwich College is seeking strong language graduates, to train as secondary school Spanish teachers.

Dulwich College is the lead school for the South London Hub of the National Modern Languages SCITT, a school centred, subject specialised teacher training programme designed to help address the acute shortage of Modern Language teachers.

The SCITT approach is different to traditional teacher training in the following ways:

  • Trainees on the programme are in school from day one and at the end of the year are awarded both qualified teacher status (QTS) and a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE).
  • Trainees gain hands-on experience in the classroom through two contrasting school placements in our partner schools.
  • All elements of the course are taught by MFL experts and the subject specific PGCE is delivered and awarded by Sheffield Hallam University.
  • The training is delivered via Hub training days at Dulwich College and through national training days organised by the NML SCITT central office.
  • Successful applicants will receive a £25,000 bursary (subject to eligibility) for the training year.  There are also more generous scholarships of £27,000 available from the British Council (subject to eligibility, successful application and selection).  Trainees may be eligible to apply to Student Finance England for course fees (£9,250), and maintenance loans to finance the course.
  • Bursaries for subject knowledge enhancement courses of various lengths are available, subject to eligibility.

We are looking for candidates who have the potential to train to be an outstanding teacher. You must be able to demonstrate extensive subject knowledge in your chosen language or be a native speaker. A good honours degree or a recognised equivalent qualification with a high level of fluency in at least one modern language is essential.
