The position is full-time, non-tenure-track, fixed-term, teaching all levels of Spanish with a teaching load of four courses per semester.
MA in Spanish is required, or MA with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching field for an appointment as Teaching Instructor. For an appointment as Teaching Assistant Professor, PhD in the teaching field is required. Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English is required.
The ideal candidates will have experience teaching all levels of Spanish, particularly at the lower-levels, using communicative teaching practices; the ability to teach at higher levels is a plus. We welcome applicants who have an interest in teaching undergraduate courses in the Arts and Sciences in both English and Spanish related to the Spanish-speaking world (including the USA) as well as Global Studies.
A commitment to teaching and willingness to do university service such as curriculum development, recruitment, and outreach.
Candidates should have the ability to teach online and/or hybrid courses; and/or experience incorporating innovative approaches in teaching language classes and/or linguistics.
