Descripción
The Kansas State University Department of Modern Languages seeks a creative and innovative teacher for a one-year full-time position as Teaching Assistant Professor of Spanish (possibility of renewal, pending budgets and enrollment). The Department is looking for a generalist with experience in teaching Spanish at the undergraduate and graduate level, with a preferred candidate also able to teach French at the undergraduate level. Responsibilities include teaching 6-7 courses over the academic year including graduate-level seminars in the candidate's area of expertise, undergraduate courses such as composition, conversation, and language for professional purposes (online and/or in-person), mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and contributing to departmental service initiatives.
Requisitos
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph.D. or ABD in Spanish (linguistics or literature) or a related field
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English
- Successful candidate will value multicultural perspectives in both teaching and research
- Commitment to active research profile and service/outreach activities
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. obtained by August 2024
- Ability to teach senior seminar or graduate course in Spanish in candidate’s area of research specialization
- Experience teaching graduate courses.
- Ability to teach undergraduate courses in literature, film, or cultural studies, or language for specific purposes in Spanish
- Experience teaching courses online both in asynchronous and synchronous environments
- Ability to teach undergraduate courses in another language (especially French)
