The Department of World Languages & Cultures at Eastern Illinois University is seeking a full-time Spanish Instructor for an annually contracted position (ACF).
The instructor is responsible for teaching Spanish language courses (primarily introductory-level classes). Teach upper-level course as needed (possibly Methods course for teacher licensure students in World Languages). Willingness to supervise extracurricular activities, mentor undergraduate students in high-impact learning experiences, and participate in the recruitment of majors and minors is desirable. Standard teaching load is three classes per semester.
PhD in Spanish strongly preferred, with proven teaching experience at the undergraduate level. Master’s degree in Spanish will be considered. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish required. Ability to teach Methods course for teacher licensure students desirable. We are especially interested in candidates with a dynamic teaching style and ability to implement a learner-centered pedagogy in an inclusive classroom. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and experience with promoting inclusivity required.
