Descripción 

The School of Modern Languages wishes to appoint to the position of Lecturer in Spanish (Teaching and Scholarship), starting on 1st September 2024.

Priority areas: Cultural studies and Translation

This fixed term 12 month post is offered at Lecturer (Grade F) level. 

We welcome applications from outstanding academics who are able to contribute to the development of innovative learning and teaching within the School, particularly in the areas of cultural studies and translation, taking account of developments within the discipline, changes in the market, and best practice in learning and teaching.

Requisitos 

The appointee will have native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English, and experience of teaching Spanish language and cultural studies in a higher education context. They must have the ability to deliver innovative teaching on our undergraduate programmes in Spanish and to contribute to the design and delivery of the School’s curriculum. Relevant experience in teaching from B1 to C2 courses (CEFR) is essential for this post as well as expertise in innovative approaches to learning and teaching.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience of teaching Spanish and/or Latin American cultural studies at undergraduate level.
  • Experience of teaching translation at undergraduate level.
  • Experience of teaching Spanish in a higher education context from B1 to C2 levels (CEFR).
  • Excellent knowledge of language-teaching pedagogy.
  • Experience in project-based learning.
  • Expertise in Assessment and Feedback and an interest in developing innovative approaches to these areas.
  • Capacity to develop innovative approaches to the curriculum and to teaching delivery, and to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students.
  • Ability to work both independently and effectively in a team.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and efficiently.
  • Ability to take up administrative and pastoral roles within the School.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must hold a degree in a subject area relevant to the post. A teaching qualification and/or a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field is essential.
