The Department of Foreign Languages at Weber State University is accepting applications for an instructor of Spanish to begin July 1st, 2023.
We seek a candidate who demonstrates a strong commitment to undergraduate education and the needs of a diverse student body in the context of an open-enrollment public university.
Weber State University is an open-enrollment university with 24,000 students located approximately forty miles north of Salt Lake City, in Ogden, Utah. WSU has embarked on a strategic plan to become an emerging Hispanic Serving Institution by 2025. Ogden boasts year-round recreational opportunities, a thriving arts community, a historic downtown area, and easy commuter rail access to Salt Lake City.
Job Duties
- The position includes a full-time undergraduate teaching load of up to 15 hours per semester.
- Courses will primarily range from the 1000- to 2000-levels in the basic Spanish language sequence.
Requisitos
Required Qualifications
- MA in Spanish or Spanish Linguistics.
- At least two years of experience teaching Spanish at the college level.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Spanish or related fields, such as linguistics or applied linguistics.
- Experience teaching all levels of Spanish, both basic and advanced Spanish courses.
- Experience implementing recent trends in language pedagogy, such as inclusive pedagogical practices and the use of classroom technology.
