Applications are invited from suitably qualified and skilled candidates for the above post - which offers an excellent opportunity to work in a management role within a strong Modern Foreign Languages Department in this highly successful Sixth Form College. The department is one of the largest MFL Sixth Form providers in the country with a wide spread of course offering.
The College holds Good Ofsted status and also Beacon status - one of the first four sixth form colleges in the country to be awarded the latter. Following an external assessment process undertaken through 2020, the College has recently been awarded the highest level Science Mark Status - Platinum Level, for our science and STEM activities and work. We are the first Sixth Form College in the country to be awarded the Platinum Award Level status.
The post arises from the retirement of our current Head of Spanish in Summer 2021.
You will be required to lead and manage the Spanish curriculum subject area, including teaching a series of groups A level and GCSE Spanish - and also, ideally be able to offer a second subject to at least final year A level standard.
Applicants should have successful experience of teaching A level Spanish, a good Honours Degree (or equivalent) in Spanish, or including Spanish, and a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification. You should have a commitment to high level standards of teaching and learning and have an interest in management – with management experience or the belief that you have potential.
Applicants should be energetic, well organised, enthusiastic and committed to fostering the learning and development of 16 to 19 year old students to ensure students achieve high levels of retention and value-added achievement in their teaching classes and across the range of groups in the subject. A high level of integrity and professionalism is important.
