Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants for a College Lectureship in Modern and Medieval Languages associated with a Fellowship at Christ's College.
The Lectureship is intended to provide a valuable development opportunity for a fixed term to an individual at the beginning of their academic career, to allow them to build teaching skills, a publication reord and to undertake other academic activity with a view to obtaining a University appointment in Cambridge or elsewhere. It will be tenable from 1 September 2020 to 31 August 2021 (without the possibility of renewal), or for a similar period with dates to be agreed.
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake at least eight hours of small group teaching per week for the College during Full Term (equivalent to 160 hours per academic year); to engage in research and publication; to assist or act as Director of Studies in Spanish and Portuguese with oversight of other modern languages, and to undertake other College offices or duties appropriate to an early career appointment if asked to do so.
The successful candidate is likely to be someone able to offer supervision of the highest quality in the compulsory scheduled (nonlanguage) papers SP1 (Introduction to Languages, Literatures, and Cultures of the Spanish-speaking World) and SPA3 (Introduction to Hispanic Literature, ab initio); plus at least two specialist scheduled papers in Modern Spanish/Latin American Literature (see list in the Appendix).
