The Department of International Languages and Cultures at St. Mary’s College of Maryland is accepting applications for the position of Associate Professor of Spanish, beginning fall 2023. 

Regular teaching responsibilities are six courses over two semesters. Ability to teach language, literature and culture at all levels a must, as well as to participate in Latin American Studies program. Candidate should be interested in working in a multi-language department with a cultural studies orientation. As part of an institutional commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, all professors at St. Mary’s are also expected to contribute to the college-wide core curriculum. An interest in attracting and retaining students from underrepresented groups is desirable.

Requisitos 

Ph.D. in hand by fall 2023 expected.

Specialization in the analysis of Latin American Indigenous cultures and diasporic Indigenous communities in the U.S., Latin America cinema, Gender Studies, media and transmedia production, and U.S. Latinx representations.  Record of publications in these areas and 10 years of teaching experience in higher education is required.

Ability to teach language, literature and culture at all levels a must, as well as to participate in Latin American Studies program.

An interest in attracting and retaining students from underrepresented groups is desirable.

Employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.
