Descripción 

McNeese State University invites applicants to apply for the position of Assistant Professor of Spanish in the Department of English and Foreign Languages.  This is a full-time, 9–month, unclassified, tenure-track position.  The appointment begins in August 2024.

The primary job responsibilities of this position involve teaching courses in beginning, intermediate, and advanced Spanish courses at the undergraduate level. The candidate should have an interest in program development and should be willing to recruit, advise, and mentor students.

Standard teaching load is 4/4 if the hired candidate holds a terminal degree.

The position requires an individual to teach 12 hours per semester in a physical classroom, hold face-to-face office hours (10 hours per week), attend departmental and university meetings, attend commencements, and perform other duties to foster the department.

Requisitos 

Required

  • Terminal degree in Spanish or closely related field by date of appointment (ABD will be considered if there is sufficient evidence that the degree will be completed in a timely manner)
  • College-level teaching experience 
  • Ability to teach courses in culture, grammar, and literature
  • Speaking and reading fluency in Spanish

Preferred:  

  • 18 hours of coursework in second language or English 
  • Experience in curriculum planning and course scheduling
  • Experience in recruitment
  • Experience in scheduling/organizing undergraduate student organizations
