The Department of Global Humanities at Norwich University is seeking applications for a tenure-track position in Spanish at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in July 2024.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated teaching excellence, the ability to implement and expand the Spanish for the professions program, and the desire to teach Spanish language at all levels, including survey and topics courses related to Spanish-American and/or Iberian studies. The candidate should have a desire to work with heritage speakers and to promote student engagement.

Responsibilities include teaching 21 credits of beginning, intermediate, or advanced-level Spanish courses, and special topics or professional courses (i.e. Spanish for Law Enforcement, Medical Spanish, Spanish for Business). Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, student retention and recruitment. 

Requisitos 

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Spanish or closely related field by the time of the appointment; native or near-native fluency in Spanish; experience teaching Spanish courses at the college level; demonstrated teaching excellence; expertise in current methodologies and culture-based instruction, including integration of technology in the classroom.  

All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring immigration sponsorship, including but not limited to non-immigrant visas such as H1B, STEM, or F1, now or in the future. A post offer, pre-employment background check will be required of the successful candidate.
