The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures at Wichita State University in Wichita is seeking applications for a tenure-track position in Spanish at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2024. The successful candidate will have demonstrated teaching excellence, desire to teach a variety of course levels, and interest in expanding the Spanish for the professions program to intermediate courses. As we are an emerging Hispanic Serving Student Institution, the candidate should have a desire to work with heritage speakers and the local Latino community, promoting student and community engagement. The position involves engaging in scholarly activity; teaching three courses a semester in undergraduate and graduate courses; advising students; serving the department, the university, and the community.
Requisitos
- Ph.D. in Spanish or closely related field by the time of the appointment.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence.
- Native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with diverse populations.
- Ability to recruit and retain graduate students and undergraduate students as majors or minors of Spanish and completing our certificates.
- Willingness to work with our team on activities beyond the classroom.
- Ability to lead in the development of the Spanish for the Professions program at different levels.
- Willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and strategies in instructional delivery and learning activities, including online and blended learning, flexible teaching methods, and applied learning approaches.
