The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of Utah invites applications for a tenure-line Assistant Professor of Spanish with expertise in late twentieth-century (since 1975) or twenty-first-century Peninsular Studies to begin July 1, 2020. The successful candidate will be expected to teach graduate seminars, advanced undergraduate courses in literary and cultural studies, as well as introductory courses in Spanish Literature, and Spanish Civilization and Culture. Candidates with expertise in visual culture, diaspora and/or migration studies, gender studies, critical theory, trans-Atlantic studies, national discourse(s), Iberia in global/international contexts, contemporary issues, or digital humanities are encouraged to apply.
The teaching load is two courses per semester.
Teaching excellence and native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English are required. Candidates must have their Ph.D. by July 1, 2020.
Ability to participate in our Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies program is a plus.
