The Department of Modern Languages at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega is seeking applications for a tenure-track position in Spanish at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning in August 2024.
Responsibilities
- Teach four courses a semester in undergraduate Spanish language and Spanish for Specific Purposes courses (medical, business, law enforcement, interpreting, translation, internships, among others);
- Advise students; serve the department, the university and the community; and engage in scholarly activity.
- Teaching schedules will be primarily on the Dahlonega campus and will include our Blue Ridge campus as needed by the department.
- Teaching may also include assignments in the evening, online, and/or hybrid classes as well as possible teaching on our Cumming or Gainesville campuses if departmental need arises.
Requisitos
Required Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Spanish or a closely related field
- Experience teaching Spanish at the university level
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English
- Ability to work collaboratively with all campus constituencies
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching Spanish
- Demonstrated excellence in technology skills
- Potential for excellence in service and scholarship
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching Medical Spanish at the undergraduate level
- Desire to teach beginning and intermediate students
- Demonstrated excellence in promoting student engagement
- Evidence of continuing education in pedagogy training outside of graduate school
