This position supports Cumberland County College's mission statement and strategic objectives and is accountable and responsible to fulfill faculty duties and responsibilities as required by Cumberland County College and to establish a learning-centered philosophy and pedagogy, ensuring the success and education of the College's students.

Duties include:
Teach fifteen (15) classroom and online contact hours per semester of introductory and intermediate level Spanish language courses, contribute to the coordination of multiple sections of Spanish language courses, and demonstrate a strong commitment to developing the language program.


Master's degree is required, doctoral degree preferred in Spanish language from a regionally accredited university, and native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English are required. Community college teaching experience preferred. Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of the Internet, e-mail, and various software packages Microsoft Office, Excel and Word. Ability to teach hybrid and online courses.
Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in the most current language and culture pedagogies and applied technologies.

Ability to teach Spanish language at all levels using a variety of modalities (i.e. online, hybrid, accelerated).

Experience developing and teaching Spanish language courses at the community college or university level.

Strong preference will be given to candidates with the ability to teach both Spanish language courses and English composition courses, including developmental writing.
Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, sensitivity to, and respect for a rich and diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, gender identity, sexual orientation, those with disabilities, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Experience working in a community with a similar diversity pattern as is found in the service area for Cumberland County College is desirable.
